Relationship With Colours - 1st Artist Research - Sarah Graham

Sarah graham

Sarah Graham creates vivacious, bold images. Striking realism combined with vivid colours allows the unique subject of toys and sweets to be shown in a unique way. Her colourful work caught my eye due to contrast she presents with the colours and the high saturation involved with her images. Her work would work well with my idea due to my interest in colour contrast and colours relationship with food which she shows in her work. Sarah Graham does photorealism. These painting and drawings or created in a way so they look realistic and taken with a camera. That is another reason why Sarah Grahams work caught my eye because of how creative and unique her work is.

"Using subjects that allow me to satisfy my obsession with colour and within them somehow communicate that elusive sense of sheer joy". Sarah Graham tries to show joy and happiness in her work using colours and she also says the imagery is often borrowed from her childhood such as toys and sweets, which she shows in her images. The reason for doing this work is mainly because its a passion but also because she likes her pieces to  show happiness and joy, and thats why the colours she uses are borrowed from her childhood. In addition to, childhood is the most exciting and fun time of your life which she tries to show in her images.
